My, how time flies!

Back in September of 2011, I started a new job, and am very thankful to The Evans Group for the opportunity they gave me. However, when SWAROVSKI OPTIK contacted me about becoming a sales rep for them in the mountain territory, it was just too great of a chance to pass up.

As of November 1st, 2011 (yeah, over six months ago!) I started as the SWAROVSKI OPTIK Mountain Territory Sales Representative. My territory includes New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, eastern Montana, and the western parts of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. I obviously specialize in the hunting market, calling on independent dealers as well as national chains, but I'm also rapidly learning the ins-and-outs of the birding and wildlife watching market.

To top it off, I am required to live in my territory so a couple months ago we sold both our houses in Arizona, packed up two U-haul trucks and a trailer, and moved back to Colorado. We chose the Vail Valley and are living in a month-to-month rental while searching for a home in Eagle or Gypsum.

I am ridiculously excited to be working for the best company in the hunting industry, and to be selling high-end optics, which are my passion. After six months on the job, I'm confident in saying I have found my dream sales job and I'm living in one of the best places on Earth!

Hunt Photography Article

I just received my copy of the Nov/Dec 2011 (#54) issue of Successful Hunter magazine. On page 6, Editor Lee Hoots wrote about digital photography and included me! He outlined my hunt photography offerings, and then gave a bunch of great photography tips for hunters. AZSFWC Heritage Banquet 2011

On Saturday May 14, 2011, join fellow politically-motivated hunters and conservationists for the third annual Arizona Sportsmen for Wildlife Conservation (AZSFWC) Heritage Banquet. This year’s keynote speaker will be Former Vice President Dan Quayle and the Honorary Co-Chair will be Arizona Governor Jan Brewer.

AZSFWC and its partner organization, Arizona Sportsmen for Wildlife (AZSFW) are the pre-eminent political voice for sportsmen in Arizona. The organizations include as members nearly all the sportsmen groups across the state such as the Arizona Elk Society, AZ Deer Association, and the Yuma Valley Rod & Gun Club.

Last year’s event featured Sarah Palin and was attended by more than 700 people. This year’s event takes place at 4:00 p.m. at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort. Individual tickets are available for as little as $125 and sponsorships of all levels are also available. Log on to the AZSFWC website for more information and to purchase tickets. Arizona Wildlife License Plates

For those of you who live in Arizona, you can show off your love for hunting and fishing while supporting a great cause at the same time by purchasing the “Conserving Wildlife” license plate. The new plate is very colorful and depicts nine species of popular Arizona wildlife including elk, antelope, desert bighorn sheep, pintail, Apache trout, Gamble’s quail, Merriam’s turkey, Coues whitetail, and mountain lion. The plate costs an additional $25 per year, $17 of which goes to Arizona Sportsmen for Wildlife Conservation (AZSFW). For another $25 per year, you can personalize the plate.

Last year, the Wildlife Conservation Council merged with AZSFWC and now the group represents nearly all the wildlife conservation organizations in the state such as the Arizona Elk Society and Arizona Deer Association. If you live in Arizona I urge you to show your support for wildlife by getting the wildlife conservation plate the next time your vehicle comes up for renewal! By the way, for those of you who already have a standard personalized plate, when you go in to renew, the MVD will give you a new, unpersonalized plate while your wildlife plate is being made. It took them about three weeks to get my personalized wildlife plate done.

Pursuit Channel Now on Dish Network

I was enlightened today… the Pursuit Channel is now part of the basic package for all Dish Network subscribers. I thought Pursuit was only available on cable networks and DirecTV, but if you have Dish Network, tune to channel 240.

With my Dish Network package, I now can watch Versus, Outdoor Channel, Sportsman’s Channel, and Pursuit Channel. There is also still a little outdoor programming on ESPN and occasionally on FOX. With that many channels showing hunting and fishing shows there will never be a shortage of things to watch.

I recognize a couple programs on the Pursuit Channel such as Obsession Revealed and Wingshooting USA and I’m excited to watch some shows I haven’t watched such as TNT Outdoor Explosion and MOJO Outdoors.

Check out Pursuit on Dish Network channel 240 or DirecTV channel 608. Both use the four-letter call name HUNT. If you get cable, just check with your local provider.
